Week One: Update

by quillwielder

Well it’s the end of Week One for June Camp NaNoWriMo and it’s time to check in with how your week went.

As of now my word count is around the 29,000 word mark. I’ve reached and passed the halfway mark. I couldn’t be happier. As I said in my previous post Week One: Dizzying Highs I was running on the high of the first week. I was so excited to get into my story that I could stop writing.

I am lucky enough to have a lot of free time between part time work at the moment. I’ve also worked through the kinks of the week too. I know that Mondays and Tuesdays aren’t great days for me, but weekends are where I can really power through.

I have realised that the way my story is going it will probably be over 50,000 words, which I am excited about. I won’t have to add any more dream sequences to fill the word count.

I tried a Word Sprint the other day. If you’re wondering what that is, it’s when you pick a time frame like 10 minutes and in that time you write as much as you can. They’re lots of fun and a great way get yourself writing.

How are your cabins? I have a lovely group of cabin mates from around the world. We’re all supporting each other and offering advice. It’s great fun and you get to make friends. No one gets writers better than other writers.

There’s just so much stuff happening in week one that I’m struggling to remember it all. I’ll have to save somethings for Week Two.

So how was your first week? Did you keep up with your word count? Fall behind or bound ahead?

And more importantly are you ready for the woes of Week Two? Stay tuned for my next Camp NaNo post Week Two: Encouragement… you’re going to need it!
