What’s up, Harry? Did NASA find oil on Uranus, man?

It is I, your Assistant Editor back from his break. But it is with a heavy heart that I have to say that I am not here to entertain you today I’m afraid. You see, my time away was brilliant, being on the coast of Northern Scotland gave me plenty of time to forget about life.

But now I’m home it hasn’t taken long for reality to come crashing down, just recently you may have heard that there has been yet another death far too soon.

This man is one of my favourite actors, he made his breakthrough as an actor in one of my favourite films of all time; Armageddon as “Bear”. I remember watching that film for the first time and thinking he was just absolute badass, carrying that massive wrench to give Affleck time to run away.

Since then he has become world renowned as John Coffey, like the drink only spelt differently in The Green Mile, another one of my favourite films. His kindness shone as he portrayed a gentle giant wrongly accused of killing innocent little girls when in actual fact he was trying to heal them.

Onwards from Green Mile he went on to star in The Whole Nine Yards, Sin City, Daredevil, Scorpion King, Planet of the Apes and much more.

Ladies and Gentleman, if you haven’t already figured it out, that man is Michael Clarke Duncan.

It was reported that two months ago he had a severe heart attack and only narrowly avoided death then, for the past two months he’s pretty much been hospitalized the entire time when through all his efforts he finally couldn’t hold on any more and slipped away into eternal slumber this morning.

You hear about people dying all the time, you get used to it after awhile, but M.C.D dying has probably upset me more than any previous. He was a genuinely nice guy and down to earth and if anyone deserved this fate less, it was him. Duncan had so much more to give and now he joins the unfortunate list of actors that have gone before their time.

Not that they’ll read this or anything but I wish his family and friends my sincere condolences.

Rest in peace Michael.
