I’m in a pickle . . .
Because I was running late, last week I posted Chapter 1 of my short story “Awakening” instead of Chapter 24 of SV-1, and do you know what happened?
. . . it done got five (!) likes!
That’s the same as Chapter 21 of SV-1, BUT . . . Chapter 22 got four likes, and Chapter 23 of SV-1 only got two likes. Clearly, interest in SV-1 wanes, and readers responded to fresh material.
What to do, what to do?
If I continue with SV-1, current trends point to Chapter 24 receiving only one like (5 – 4 – 2 – ?), whereas the short story might garnish two, possibly three likes.
Hmmm . . . actually, it’s an easy decision. Since I will be traveling next week, and since “Awakening” is a short story with only two more chapters, it makes sense closing it out by presenting Chapter 2 today, and presenting Chapter 3 next week. I can prepare both today, publish the second chapter today, and publish the conclusion next Monday, and do so just by clicking a virtual button from an undisclosed North American location, known only to the NSA, all their minions, a number of friends, a couple of not-so-much friends, a few neighbors, and family.
Yeah, that sounds like a smart way to go, and I long to appear smart.
Without further delay, the following post presents the second chapter of “Awakening”.
