Guardians Of The Galaxy… In Review
Story; The story is good… And I look forward to the sequel Etc. I don’t want to give anything away… Here, however, is how IMDB would describe it.
Storyline
After stealing a mysterious orb in the far reaches of outer space, Peter Quill from Earth, is now the main target of a manhunt led by the villain known as Ronan the Accuser. To help fight Ronan and his team and save the galaxy from his power, Quill creates a team of space heroes known as the “Guardians of the Galaxy” to save the world.
Characters; Ok, this is a completely Character Based Movie… And when I say that, that’s a good thing. But in addition to strong characters, it has a lot of style.
Peter Quill AKA Star Lord (Chris Pratt); Ok, when I sat down to see this (Keeping in mind, I think most people have seen this movie, as it was a Huge Box Office Success), I had no idea who the lead actor was… But was quickly informed that it was the actor from “Money Ball” who played the Catcher turned 1st Basemen. Who, in fact, was one of my favorite characters in that film. And in this film, he is perfectly cast. Very Buck Rodgers, Meets Flash Gordon, Meets Han Solo, in a good way. He adds vitality, and charm to this film.
Rocket (Bradley Cooper); Ok, first of all, I love Bradely Cooper
… But I would have never, ever, ever guessed it was him that did this character. The dude can do voices apparently. Secondly, this is the kind of character you’d normally worry about being cheesy and lame… But he’s not. His character is essential to the quirkiness that is this group. But also, with heart.
Groot (Vin Diesel); This character, as I suspected would be per the original preview for the film, was great. But, it’s more than that… He’s kinda a sneak up and bite you character… Meaning, he’s subtle, simple and minor at first, but constantly and regularly surprises you. As far as Vin, Lol, well, this character only says one thing… Over… And Over… And over again. “I Am Groot”… So, not sure it mattered all that much that it was Vin, Lol.
Ronan (Lee Pace); I found that the actor Lee Pace made this an interesting character… Tough to do, as this kind of bad guy has been done a lotttt.
The Rest Of The Characters; The rest of the characters and actors did a good job, but the ones above made the film for me.
Overall Review; My overall review of this film, is about a 7.75 out of 10… I really, really enjoyed this film, and will be buying the DVD very shortly. It’s extremely Character Based, which I like, especially when I like the characters, which I do. Secondly, the Style/Look and Music of this film is very appealing, and impressive. This thing is funny, charming, quirky and cool Definitely see this film.
